The CCR Questions These are the four questions you must address in your CCR: 1) How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Our product is able to portray a diverse cast both on screen and offscreen. We are able to represent different groups by portraying them as hero's and villains. We want our audience to see that they can put themselves in these characters shoes. 2) How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? The product will be displayed through YouTube and blogger, and I believe our film engages with audiences by not taking itself so seriously we are able to have comedic moment s in a mystery film. I also think the audience might find this film somewhat similar to the chess related characters from Alice in wonderland 3) How did your production skills develop throughout this project? My Production skills definitely developed by being able to being able to post ...

I think this was our second to last day editing and we finishing up with the cutting and shortening clips part and the director helped me by adding text in some scenes and we went over what would be the best font and or size. That day was pretty productive we even managed to shorten our film to a minute exactly so that helped us tremendously. We also were working on my laptop because I had most of the files saved onto my PC.
Shortening Clips while Editing

At least all of the clips I had to shorten down and make sure it starts and finishes to the exact scene we need it as. The director would stand in front of the camera and give me editor signals on what scene and what take this is. Thankfully our cinematographer sent me all the good clips so I could have an easier time editing. Most of the editing process was through the help of my team to ensure we all agree if the film looks good.
Using Filters in the Film

Using filters in the film was important for the film. We established the mood of the story using Mise en Scene and properly captured the setting we wanted. At first when we applied the Mono filter to certain scenes it looked grey but then we revised it and James said we should wait for the chess pieces to be knocked down and then cut to black and white. When we incorporated that in the film certain scenes made way more sense they the would if they used color.
Speeding up Clips in our Film

The original time with the clips in our film uncut and not sped up was about 2-3 minutes. Because of this issue I decided to speed up some scenes we could get our film down to a minute. The director was very helpful during this process especially since they presented this idea. We did end up cutting one scene out of our film anyways. But besides that speeding up longer clips worked out well. During the running scene we sped it up more for a comedic effect. Overall I think this process really helped us still keep in important scenes without cutting important footage.
Adding Audio to our Film

On Wednesday me and our Technical Director Nya went over audios to use in our film. We went through a few some were too fast or too slow and some sounded like they belonged to a SVU episode. But we were able to find our audio and the link here . Earlier the Director insisted on adding sound effects for the running scene but there wasn't enough time and it just wasn't matching the vibe of the film at all even though it's supposed to be a sped up comedic bit. But overall finding suiting audio for our film was definitely a success.
Adding Text to the Film

Adding Text to the film was a little tricky in some aspects. We were using certain fonts to meet a certain aesthetic our film was trying to present. Another issue we faced was scaling the credits down to the right size each time. But sing the texts we were able to create a proper title and ending card. It's a bit tricky to say with the credits texts because it makes the film look more like a movie trailer than a short film. The credits were spread out the film instead of all these credits in one shot because it simply would not fit. But so far that was my experience adding texts one more thing to mention is our font name was "Sylfaen" for aesthetic purposes.
